Record Your Blessings in an Album

One of my goals has been to create a gratitude album that would allow me to focus on the items I am most thankful for. I had intentions to share this as part of a team collab, but those plans changed. Instead of nixing the project, I decided to share this project with you. Today, I am creating the title page for the album and I am going to tell you more about how you can create your own gratitude journal along with me.

SUPPLIES | Mint Album, November Fox Box, Cozy Autumn PaperSnip, Autumn Leaves PaperSnip, Skinny Chevron Stencil, Vintage Harvest Collection, Autumn Leaves Dies, Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Ink, Opaque Texture Paste, Dandy Lion Shimmerz Paint, Magnetic MakeArt Board, Sanding Block, Die Release Tool, Foam Dots, Skinny Foam Tape, Bearly Art Glue, EzGrand Tape Runner, Glassboard (Save 20% with Carrie20), Photo Printer, Sewing Machine, Canva

We all struggle with seeing how blessed we are each day and often focus on the negative. When you purposefully seek out what you are thankful for, your mind shifts, and you see more of the good. That was the purpose behind this album – to change my focus to see the good.

On the first page, I chose to add a title that will set the theme for the album. I added this lovely golden perspextive and paired it with a Papersnip that tells the readers that my blessings are being documented.

This title matches the paper collection that I chose for my design. I loved the addition of teal in the collection and it matches the elements I wanted to add to my pages.

This page is filled with lots of lovely layers created with Papersnip leaves and die-cut images. I wanted some texture, so I added stitching to the centers of the smaller leaves and sanded the printed ones. This gave me a distressed look that would match other elements in my design.

With this being the title page of the album, I didn’t want to add an image that I would need to write about. I selected a photo I took in our garden last fall. The yellow florals against a grey fence matched all the elements perfectly.

To bring in some more texture, I added some stenciled images with texture paste in the background. This helped to fill in the white space without adding too much to the page.

If you would like to see how this page came together and learn a few simple design tips along the way, I have a process video for you.

During the month of November, I will be going live in my Facebook group and showing you how to put some more of these pages together. If you are not on Facebook, let me know in the comments, and I will make sure to have these videos available on my classroom website as well.

I hope that you join me and create one of these albums along with me. It’s going to be a lovely project you will be able to add to for years to come.

I hope this inspired you to try something new. If you have any questions about this project or the supplies listed above, feel free to leave me a comment.
