Add Details with Stencils & Cut Files

As I continue to work on recording memories in our Disney album, I am starting to run low on a few supplies. Instead of purchasing more, I opted to use what I have on hand which included some stencils and cut files. Today, I am going to share how I used those on a page of our quick trip to Animal Kingdom.

As I gathered items for this page, I discovered that the background pattern I wanted to use wasn’t large enough for my layout. Instead of heading to the store, I decided to make my own and one of the easiest ways to create pattern paper is with a stencil.

I selected a simple circle and used it to create some blue-green bubbles on white cardstock. Using a blending brush, I shaded three-fourths of the circle with Speckled Egg then finished off the edges with Bundled Sage. The bubbles do not completely fill the page, but they give enough color to the background to bring a little bit of whimsy to the design.

My little packs of perspextives were also running low, which meant that I needed to come up with alternative ephemera for my page. For me, cut files are a great way to fill the space.

This jeep cut file was uploaded into Design Space and sized to fit this area of the layout. I chose some pattern paper scraps from the collection and added a few little details with ink and a white pen.

As you start to run low on your collections, you might have to get a little creative with titles and phrases. The memory I am recording is our quick one-hour trip to Animal Kingdom for the purpose of grabbing some churros.

I decided to mix and match stickers with acrylic shapes to create a unique title for the page that tells the story. Backing these elements with images and tags helped to create to look of a complete phrase on my page.

If you would like to know the story of why we only spent an hour at Animal Kingdom, you can hear the tale as you watch me assemble this layout.

Sometimes you just need to record a memory of the silly things you do on a vacation to remember all the fun life has to offer.  You might have to get a little creative with your supplies, but the memory is one that you will always remember.
