Today, I am sharing a fun slimline Christmas card design that I created for The Rabbit Hole Designs. This sweet little card is whimsical and full of fun.
If you are a member of my Facebook group, you had a chance to view a live tutorial sharing how I shade images like wood and furry creatures with TriBlend markers. I spoke about choosing a variety of colors, adding layers, and how to create light and shadow.
This card has an adorable Clarence image sleeping next to a plate of cookies and milk. In my mind, I envisioned him sitting by a fireplace waiting for Santa.
When I was adding color to his face, I created the illusion of light and shadow using a variety of grey-brown markers. This made it look like the light from the fire was cast onto his face.
I chose colors for the blanket, lamp, and cook plate to match the holiday papers I selected for this slimline. Those large gifts and bright stripes are such fun patterns for Christmas. To keep the image from getting lost in the pattern, I framed it in a circle and then added a little sentiment to the design.
This card is a fun one to create and I loved showing the members of my group how to shade those images. If you have any questions about this project or the supplies I used, feel free to leave me a comment below.
