Simple Vacation Scrapbook Layout

Recording your memories does not have to be complicated nor do you need to make sure that every area of the page is filled. Today, I am sharing a page I made for our vacation album using a few papers, a Cricut cut, and a sweet acrylic title.

When I plan a scrapbook page, I always start with the photos. I pick a theme or a color in the photos that I want to highlight. These photos are of our trip through the World Showcase when we stopped to view the drummers in the Japanese pavilion.

We were so far away from the activity, that the photo with the drums is rather small. To highlight those elements, I brought colors to the layout that would highlight my focal point.

The title that I chose not only sets the theme for the page, its color and position help to draw your eyes to the drums. I added a few additional elements to the title with an arrow that will point to my journaling and a black heart to form a visual triangle with the rest of the items on the layout.

To set the theme, I added a bonsai tree in the background and some cherry blossoms.

I didn’t want to overwhelm this smaller layout, so I kept the tree white and the flowers simple. I didn’t have a set of cherry blossom dies, so I combined a branch with a set of flowers I owned and cut them from pattern paper.

In my video, I share how this layout came together and ways to add visual interest to a smaller page.

This page came together really quickly and is rather simple, but I like how easy it was to make.
