Disney Album Title Page with bestof30dscbl

My goal was to use all thirty sketches from the Best of 30 Days of Sketches series with Christy’s Beautiful Life throughout June. There were a few things that happened that caused me to miss a few days, so I am skipping ahead to day nine. Today’s sketch was designed by Suzanna Lee and it is the perfect design for a title page.

SUPPLIES | Cricut Machine, Simply Magic Stamp, Simply Magic Dies, Mixed Media Paper, Magical Adventure Collection, A Day at the Park Collection, Magical Place Brads

This page is full of circular shapes surrounding the story. It lacks photos in the sketch, but that doesn’t mean you cannot add them. I liked the design as it was created and felt like it would make the ideal first page of our Disney album.

I scaled down the design to a smaller album size and then began creating the project in Cricut Design Space using a guide as a template. In my video, I share more about this.

Not only did I add circular shapes, but I also added a few globes and mouse heads to the layout for some contrast. We spent most of our time at Epcot, so the globe represented that portion of the trip and, of course, the mouse heads are for the theme park we visited.

I wanted to bring some texture to the page, so I stitched around each of the circles with matching thread and I left a few thread tails to sit randomly on the layout. On the small pink circles, I created bows.

The circles and shapes were created using non-traditional theme park colors. The papers from Echo Park and Photo Play match the layouts in my album. By using the same hues, I was able to set the theme for the album.

With all those brightly colored patterns, I needed a simple title that would stand out on the page. I chose a stamped image from Elle’s Studio and backed it with some black glitter paper and blue polka-dots.

I added some zig-zag stitching under the title to emphasize it more. The title is a simple black and white was a great addition to the page.

In my video, I share how I was uncertain about adding this title to the design, but I do like how it turned out.

You can view the playlist of all the participants and join the challenge to see the sketches in the 30 Days Facebook Group.  I will be slowly catching up on the days I have missed, and I will be sharing them here soon.

I hope this project inspired you to try something new and give this sketch challenge a try. If you have any questions about the project or the supplies I used, please feel free to leave me a comment below.
