During the month of June, I am challenging myself to join the Best of 30 Days of Sketches series with Christy’s Beautiful Life. If you would like to join, I will add a link at the end of this post. For day two, I am sharing a scrapbook page I created for our Disney Album using the sketch created by Suzanna Lee.
This triangular design was a bit outside my comfort zone, but I challenged myself to use it. Not only did I need to figure out how to create the triangles, but I also had to pare them down to a smaller album size.
In my video, I show how to cut the larger triangle, but I cheated when creating the others. Instead of cutting triangles, I cut strips ofo paper and layered them under the photo. It saved me from having to figure out the angles and made the layout go together a lot quicker.
My fondest memory was of the gardens in Epcot so I chose to add some flowers to the page. These were cut from white cardstock using a wildflower die set, then shaded with distress oxide inks using my favorite mini blenders. I kept the colors to a minimum and left them mostly white so that they stood out on the bright pattern papers.
In the sketch, the title is placed on the right side overlapping the photos. I chose to add mine to the lower right corner as an anchor for the design. When you scale down a sketch, you often have to make changes to the layout to balance the arrangement.
On this page, I wanted the pattern to show behind my journaling, but, since I never handwrite my text, I printed it onto clear sticker paper. This is an easy way to add typed text to your page if you can’t (or forget) to run it through the printer.
