Create a Caffeinated Chameleon Card

I have truly enjoyed being a guest designer on the Coffee Loving Card Makers blog this month. I can’t believe it’s already over! I hope you took the time to stop by the blog to view all the coffee-loving projects. For my final April project, I have an adorable little caffeinated chameleon, and I am sharing how to use Distress Oxide sprays to add color to a simple design.

I chose an uncomplicated format, using mostly white cardstock, a stamped image, and some mixed media items. When I purchased this adorable lizard, I honestly had no idea what to make – I just thought it was too cute not to share.

My kids can vouch for the fact that this is the face they get from me before I have had my coffee. I knew right away that I wanted that Caffeinated Chameleon face being the focus of my card.

Green is not a color I use much, but I felt like this card called for it. Both the back panel and leaves are shaded with a mix of green Distress Oxide sprays. In my video, I share how I used the leftover ink from the leaves to create that fun mix of colors on the back panel.

To create a break between the colors, I added a brick panel. This brick has a light blue-grey tint, and it fits perfectly with the design.

With so many greens on the card, I needed to pick a color for the chameleon that would match the design and stand out. I chose a mix of turquoise blue and green triblends that were blended together with alpine green.

In my video tutorial, I share how all these elements came together.

Even though I didn’t have a plan, all the elements came together like the ingredients in a great cup of coffee. I hope that you enjoyed all of the caffeinated projects created for the Coffee Loving Cardmaker blog and that you plan on joining me for the give-away hop next week.
