A Layered Lavender Seed Pack Card

Mother’s Day is a few weeks away, and our Creative Design team is inspiring you with projects that honor mothers. I chose to design a few generic projects, like this Vintage Lilac Seed Packet card, that you could make for any occasion.

This holiday is difficult for me, and I know many of you also struggle with Mother’s Day. Not all of us can be mothers, have a mother, or are mothers, but we can still create something beautiful and share it with a friend who needs a little pick-me-up.

That is why I chose to create a card that you can give at any time of the year. This vintage seed packet card is simple to make and full of lovely layers.

The leaf design around the edges consists of die cut vellum over cardstock. It creates such a delicate design for that seed packet to sit upon.

The lavender image was heat embossed and shaded with watercolors. I stamped two of the design and layered the image with foam tape to give it some dimension.

Watercolors have become my new favorite medium. I love how soft the look and how layers of color can be added to create dimension.

I am still learning how to use them, and it has been fun to learn some new techniques. If you would like to see how I used the watercolor on this design, I have a video tutorial for you.

This card is such a simple design, but it makes a beautiful statement. It would be a wonderful gift to give on Mother’s Day or on any day of the year.

  1. What wonderful projects! I really enjoyed watching you watercolor those strawberries and the lavender! You are right! Berries aren’t all one color. This creates a more realistic painting! I absolutely love your lavender card! The two layers of leaves looks magical! Do you list the items used somewhere? I really would love that die cut and the lavender image!
