Throughout April, I have been a guest designer on the Coffee Loving Card Maker Blog and I have truly enjoyed it. It’s been a great excuse to play with my coffee crafting collection. Today’s project is a simple little shaker card with faux stitching full of bright colors and charming little elements.
This card was created for a coffee-loving sister of mine who has a birthday coming up in May. She is bright, cheery, and full of fun just like this card.
I created the shaker element using a die from Trinity stamps. These types of dies are designed to create a window on a project and they are perfect for shaker cards.
On this card, I added some darling Echo Park birthday elements that came with my SCT Sampler. The sentiment and banners were layered together to create a bold statement and the banners frame the shaker window.
I just love that darling little bow. This pre-made embellishment added some texture to the design and a little feminine touch.
With all the bright colors and fun designs, I needed to find a way to frame some of those layers. Normally, I would grab a needle and thread, but a few of you have asked me to show alternative ways to add stitching.
Stamps are an easy way to give the look of stitching without all the work. I can quickly add the look of stitching with just a little bit of ink. In my video, I share a few tips for using Post-It tape as a mask when stamping stitched borders.
Making cards with someone specific in mind is always a fun task. This card little unexpected with the coffee shaker and birthday elements, but it is perfect for my coffee-loving friend. I love how that faux stitching creates a contrast to all the bright colors on this piece.
