One of my favorite things to do is teach people how to use craft items they already own in a new way. Today, I am sharing three ways you can use your circle stencils to create slimline cards with Distress Oxide inks. These three cards were so much fun to make and required very little supplies.
For these backgrounds, I used a Polka-Dot stencil pack that has four sizes of stencils. You can use any circle stencil you have for these cards, but I like the versatility of the four different sizes.
On this first card, I used the one-inch stencil to create the background, then used the stencil as a mask to create partial floral images in the yellow polka-dots.
I chose smaller floral stamps that fit the circles and used my stamping platform to ensure that the images were stamped completely. The flowers and leaves were stamped using black pigment ink. The ink made clean up easy and didn’t stain my stencils.
The second card is one of my favorites. It required a little more time to complete, but the results are worth it. I used all four stencil sizes to create bubbles with Distress Oxide Inks.
Each circle was masked with a masking material, and ink was applied to the edges leaving the inner portion almost white to create the look of a bubble. I kept the sentiment simple using a Word Topper die so that I didn’t talk away from that awesome background.
After using single stencils, I decided to double them up and create a layered stencil design.
This one has a bright pattern that you can make with a larger circle and a smaller pattern underneath. I chose to use the quarter-inch stencil, but you could choose another shape or print for your design.
