Thank you cards are something that everyone needs to have on hand, and these six cards came together in about an hour using some stamped sentiments, printed card bases, and sunflower die cuts. Today, I have a video tutorial showing you how to create these simple thank you cards using items in your craft collection.
One of the perks of ordering from Honey Bee Stamps is the free-bees in your orders. I just received an adorable pack of printed card bases designed to create simple cards. One of my goals this year is to use up the items I order, which is one of the reasons I decided to use these patterns to create simple cards today.
Each card has a front and back pattern or phrase, which means that you can use them as-is for a simple card or use them to make embellished cards or as pattern papers on a scrapbook page.
When I create a stack of simple cards, I like to stamp all of my sentiments at once, then cut them out and have them ready to go. I chose a stamp set called Thankful Sentiments and used my stamping platform to stamp all the images at once.
Having the phrases ready to go makes the cardmaking go so much faster. I didn’t have to stop to stamp the sayings for these cards; I just had to grab the ones that fit the design.
I also cut out all the sunflowers ahead of time. I chose pattern papers, cardstock, and vellum for my sunflowers that matched the patterns and phrases.
On a few cards, I used the Layered Sunflower die to cut the images from the card panels themselves. This allowed me to use up those card pieces that I wouldn’t have used otherwise.
You might also be surprised by the fact that I didn’t add much foam tape to my flowers. As you know, I enjoy creating bold floral designs, but I wanted to be able to mail these out, so I kept the bulk to a minimum.
I wanted these designs to be simple and easy to replicate, so I added minimal embellishments. In the centers of a few flowers, I used acrylic shapes or gems.
I was also careful to keep the sunflower assembly uncomplicated. The only card that took a little longer to make was this bright pink sunflower which was shaded using distress oxide inks.

Even if you don’t have those adorable card fronts, you can still use up some random paper scraps or pocket cards in your stash to create these designs. Quick, simple cards are always fun to make and are a great way to use up a few items in your craft collection.
