How to Upload in Cricut Design Space

Today’s tutorial is for those struggling in Cricut Design Space, but you just don’t have time to watch an hour-long tutorial. My goal with each of the Five Minute Cricut classes is to show you a new technique in the amount of time it takes me to make a cup of coffee.

This week, we are going to talk about SVGs or Scalable Vector Graphics (if you care to know that stands for). These are images that you can load into your Cricut Design Space app and use to create projects.

Not only do you have access to all the Cricut images in Design Space, but you can also add more images to your library with the upload option. Before I get too far ahead of myself, let’s cover a few basics.

What Can I Upload into Design Space

You can upload Basic images (.jpg, .bmp, .png, and .gif) and Vector images (.svg and .dxf).

Vector images are preferred. The images are automatically separated into layers making it much easier to design a project. Basic images are usually flat images that are not as clear or “clean” as SVGs.

Where Do Download SVG Images?

There are quite a few reputable sites with SVG designs ….and…. there are some that are not so great. Here are three sites that I use most often and have always had great results.

Great question?? Got Five Minutes? In this video, you will learn how to download an SVG, upload the image into Design Space, and locate the image to use on your project.

WARNING: There is some extra bonus footage! I am also going to show you how to use a card, scrapbook layout, and box SVG images.

In just five minutes, you learned a new Cricut technique! Wasn’t that simple? Don’t forget to visit my Resources tab to download your “Extracting SVG Files” worksheet.
