Are you a Cricut crafter wanting to learn how to use your machine, but just can’t find the time to watch a tutorial? Well, today, you are going to learn a New Cricut Technique in just Five Minutes!! I am going to share a way you can use the Attach function, in Cricut Design Space, to create an eclipse card front.
This past week, I shared a home décor project on instagram and was asked how to recreate the design in Design Space. I created this card a few years back for a papercrafing challenge and loved it so much that I decided to frame it and add it to my fall decorations.
At the time I posted the original project, I wasn’t creating videos or tutorials. I was just sharing my projects for people to enjoy. After sharing this home décor frame online, I realized that many of you might want to learn how to make it.
This is such a simple home decor project that you can recreate with your Cricut using the Attach function. You could even use this tutorial to recreate any eclipse card you want to make
Let me show you how to create this eclipse effect using the Attach tool.
What is Attach?
Last month, I shared another Five Minute Cricut Class showing you the basics of using Attach. The Attach tool has two functions. It helps to hold your cuts in the same position as I did on my eclipse card front.
It also fastens other Linetype selections, such as Draw, Score, or Foil, to a Cut layer. We just recently learned how to do this in my Cricut Classroom when we created a foil background and journaling for a scrapbook layout.
Why Didn’t You Just Use Slice?
As I shared in the video, when you slice an image, it is permanent. After you save the project, you cannot go back and “unslice” an image. By using Attach, I can make changes later on by simply detaching the images.
After detaching, you can change the sentiment, the font, and the card base size to fit your current project. Then, simply re-attach and you have another eclipse card.
As I said, this project was created a few years back, but you could easily recreate it with some stamps and inks in your collection. If you don’t have a tree stamp, there is one on my website called Autumn Scene that I like using.
After cutting out the image, I temporarily taped the letters in place with post-it tape and used fall shades to stamp my images onto the White Daisy cardstock. Some of my leaves were created using the second-generation stamping technique which helped to add a larger variety of colors to my tree and leaves.
Not only could you use that stamp for this home décor piece, you could also use it to recreate the Christmas cards I made last year.
