Thank You to All My Cardmaking Friends

When I logged on today, I realized that it has been over two and a half months since I have posted anything here.  Many of you know why, but, for those who don’t, I wanted to post a quick update and send a huge thank you to my cardmaking friends.  In early November, I become very sick and spent six weeks in isolation.  I am still battling a few aftereffects, but I want you to know that this post is not going to be about that adventure, but about the wonderful friends who kept my spirits up during that time.

As a cardmaker with a perfectionist spirit, there have been so many times that I have started a card or created a card and tossed it right into the trash. (gasp) I also have quite a collection of cards that are sitting in my craft space collecting dust (you, too, huh?)  It wasn’t until recently, while I was ill, that I realized how important sending a card can be.

Do you see all those cards?? Those amazing messages were sent to me during the two months I was ill.  During my time in isolation, my heart and mind were full of worry, sadness, and loneliness – but it was these cards that poured in each day that kept my spirts up.

Inside each one was a message of hope and encouragement.  You can’t imagine the joy this brought to my soul.  In my little room, on my comfy purple chair, I spent each day reading through your cards and feeling blessed by those who took a few minutes out of their day to send me a message of hope.  I wish I could thank each one of you personally, but since I can’t, I created a short little video full of inspiration for all of my cardmaking friends.

As I said in my video, I hope that you understand how important cards can be. It doesn’t have to be perfect or handmade or full of embellishments or filled with inspiring words of wisdom –  cards are a gift to those who receive them.

Again, thank you so much to everyone who sent me well wishes these past few months. God has sent each one of you into my life for a reason and I am forever blessed because of each of you.

I still have some healing to do and it will be a few months before I am 100%, but I know that this could have been so much worse and I am grateful it wasn’t.

I encourage you to set aside a few minutes this week to write a little note of encouragement to someone and send it off in the mail. You never know how much impact a little card can have.
