Welcome to the Core Catalog New Product Hop

How much are you enjoying all the new crafty products brought to you by Close to my Heart?! Last month, our team showcased some lovely creations featuring products from our fall catalog so, 118650131_10157792610207686_8492660088191540016_ntoday, we thought we would feature the annual Core Catalog. After all, there are some amazing items you do not want to miss out on.  If you have come here from Maureen OSullivan’s Blog you are on the right path!  When you are finished taking a look at my Simple Hugs slimline card, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This hop is simple, fun, and full of artwork created by some very talented consultants.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

I decided to keep things simple this week as I featured some of the items from our annual catalog.  If you have not had a chance to view all the wonderful new products in this catalog, you can flip through an online version HERE. As you look through the catalog, pay special attention to the Lovely paper, Fancy Borders, and new Wood Shapes – all items I chose to feature on my Simple Hugs slimline card.

I started out using the Fancy Borders thin cuts to create that adorable scalloped edge at the top of the card.  I just love the stitched details on these six-inch dies.  All of the borders are open-ended which means that you can make a border in any size you need.

Both the card base and the Lovely pattern paper were cut using these dies.  Those new Lovely papers and stickers are just so sweet and simple.  The card shows three of the twelve patterns from this pack – the leaves, the strips, and that adorable toffee plaid. I also used a scallop sticker from the Lovely sticker sheet.

At the top of the card, I added a vellum bow using our Small bow thin cut.  Close to My Heart has two bow dies in the catalog – one large, one small – and each one has matching little “ties” to go behind them. I chose to leave them off of this project and keep the bow soft and simple.

The sentiment is a wooden cut-out from our Hugs & Hello sentiments pack.  This is just one of MANY wooden icons and sentiments now available.  I personally enjoy the fact that you can leave these bare wood OR use markers, inks, paints, or embossing powder to color them any shade needed for your project.  To match that wood sentiment, I added two little wooden buttons at the base of the card

I hope that today’s project has inspired you to try something new and to take a look all the amazing new products in our Annual Core catalog.  If you are like me and need a printed version of the idea book in your hands, you can get one free when you place an order on my website.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Becca Whitham’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun project ideas.
