Day Seven: 31 Days of Christmas Cards Collab

I am so excited to share our new Creative Design Team video collab with you entitled 31 Days of Christmas Cards♥. Each day, one of our design team members will be showing you how to create some beautiful projects so that you can get a head-start on your Christmas card making. Today, I decided to feature one of my favorite seasonal background dies – the Layered Floral Thin Cuts. These are currently available, while supplies last, in the September/October catalog and I have fallen in love with this beautiful intricate design.

I wanted to show you two ways that you could use these thin cuts. This set of three dies is sized to fit a standard A2 size card, so I chose to show you how to use with cardstock, glitter paper, and a PML card.

The Comfort & Joy PML card design was an on-camera experiment. I liked the pattern on that PML card, but I knew that it was smaller than the background thin cut, so I decided to figure out a way to use it. In my video, you get to see how I “made it work” and now I plan to try it again with a few more of the pocket cards in my stash.

I also chose to show you how I use stickers on my cards. For some people this is a foreign concept, but I have found that many of our stickers are ideal for sentiments and embellishments especially when you need a last minute card.

On each design, I used few gold stickers from the Comfort & Joy sticker sheet to embellish the card and, on one of the cards, a simple Silent Night sticker sentiment.

Each of the Poinsettias were created using the Comfort & Joy Scrapbooking stamp set. The flowers on these cards were layered with the berries and pine bough images.

On the Scarlet card, I stamped the images in Scarlet ink and cut a few of the layers from vellum using the matching thin cuts dies. I wanted this to be a monochromatic looking card, so I chose to stamp the image in that beautiful scarlet color, black, and gold.

To give the look of little yellow flowers, I adhered a pile of beads in the center using Liquid Glass. Can I just say, I am so excited that we have beads now.♥ On my home décor projects, I have always used a product like the beads for the centers of my flowers, and, now that we have the beads, I can show you how I like to use them.

The second Poinsettia is a little more traditional with the green leaves and simple gold center. I chose to stamp and cut multiple images and layer them together using foam dots.

I am loving how each one of these turned out. They have such an elegant look with those Layered Floral Background thin cuts, yet, they were so simple to make using stamps and stickers.
