Creating Fall Décor for the H2H Challenge

Fall is one of my favorite seasons to create for and, today, I have decided to jump way outside the box and create a home décor piece for you.  One of our challenges this month at Heart2Heart is a Fall Fun challenge, and what is more fun than creating a project that you can display in your home.

This challenge ends in just a few days, so make sure to stop by and share your fall projects with us before September 30th.

Like I said, I chose to make something a little different that I normally do for this design team.  Home Décor is one of my favorites to create and I truly enjoy sharing with others how to make their own decorations.  For this round, I decided to pull out my Cricut and HTV (iron-on) vinyl to create a little tutorial for you.

Before we jump to the video, I want to show you a few details on this project.  It is a very simple project you can make on your Cricut.  I started out with one 1″ x 2″ slats of wood that my husband painted and sanded for me.  If you are not handy, or don’t have a handy hubby, you can purchase a sign like this one on amazon.

After the wood was finished, I created the design in Cricut Design Space then cut the letters from Black HTV (or iron-on vinyl). When you are using this type of vinyl on your design, always make sure to “mirror” your image and place the shiny side down on your mat.

One the vinyl was cut, I was able to weed the images and iron the letters onto the wood using my Easy Press Mini.  “Weeding” is very easy to do. It involves removing the excess material from the backing sheet so that your image is ready to adhere to the project.

I used the Cricut Heat Guide to determine my temperature setting and got to work adhering all the vinyl to the wood slats.  Once that was complete, I began assembling the flowers and leaves.

I used images from the new Bloom with Grace Cricut collection. There are quite a few unique sunflower images in this collection and it was hard to pick just one.  Those little grid patterns spoke to me and so did those stitched leaves, so I chose to add them to my design and cut them out from Espresso, Sundance, and Copper Order paper.

For those of you who would like to create one of these projects for your home, I have created a simple to follow Cricut tutorial for you.  In the video, I show you how to make the design in Cricut Design Space, how to adhere the HTV (iron-on), and how to assemble all the pieces for the sign.

Once you have completed the project, I would love for you to share it with me.  I always love seeing how something I made inspired others.

You will need to purchased the Bloom with Grace collection if you plan on using the same images I did. This collection is only available through my affiliate link and is not available in Access.

I hope you were inspired by this project I created for the Heart2Heart Fall Fun challenge and you were encouraged to add one of your own creations to the challenge.

Make sure to stop by the blog each week for a new challenge. Our Design Teams always have some amazing projects to share and there are always creations to inspire you.
