Stamping Techniques on a Classic Smiles Card

Before August comes to an end, I decided to pull out the stamp of the month one more time to create something simple and classic.  I have seen these Floral Celebration images used in every bright colors possible, so I decided to go an alternate route and make my flower a muted shade of grey.

I know that this may seem like an odd choice, but I like to go the opposite direction of the tide.  I wanted my sentiment to stand out in a classic red and decided that a grey was a fitting color choice to pair with the Candy Apple

The sentiment was stamped onto a grey splattered white tag that I cut using the Tags & Tabs thin cuts dies. After stamping the image, I added some baseball stitching to match the candy apple color of the sentiment.

The tag was layered onto some embossed cardstock with a brick pattern using foam tape and a decorative knot of grey ribbon was adhered to the top.

To create the dual toned flower, I used the rock & roll stamping technique with Pewter and Charcoal inks.  I stamped the leaves in Charcoal then cut out all of the images to layer onto the tag atop some loops of Silver Embellishing Thread

After adhering the flower to the card with thin & thick foam tape, I added a small red accent in the center.  This helped to form the visual triangle of red I needed on this project.♄

If you have never tried the rock & roll stamping technique, you can learn about it in my Stamping 101 video. In this video I show you six basic stamping techniques you can try on your next project.

This video was originally created for my VIP Group in May for National Stamping Day, but I felt like it was time to make it public to share with those of you who are learning how to use acrylic stamps.

I honestly love how this card turned out with its classic black and red tones♄ and I can’t wait to send it out to one of my customers to thank them for placing an online order.

This Floral Celebrations stamp set will be retiring on August 31st.  It is our current stamp of the month which means that it is only available during the month it is featured♄ and can be purchased for $5.00 with any $50 purchase from my website.

I hope that you were inspired by today’s project and that you plan on creating a few more of your own using the Floral Celebrations stamp set.
