A Mosaic Tile Card for the Color Dare Challenge

Forgive me for the lack of creations this week. It has been quite an emotional one for me. As I was attempted to create for the Color Dare blog, I honestly struggled. I don’t know about you, but emotions really affect my creative process. Before I tell you about the card I created, let me first show you the beautiful spring colors we have for you to use this week at the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog.

These colors come from our current Mix-Ins paper collection and they are simply delightful and some of my favorites in the new catalog.  Peacock and Peach are one of my favorite combinations, but instead of using just those two, I chose to use all the colors on a simple watercolor mosaic card.

If you are a member of my VIP group, you were able to watch me as I created this card.  I decided to start sharing a little of my creative brain with my VIPs a few times a month as they get a little look at my crafting space and the projects I am working on. This week, they saw how I made this card unedited and unscripted. Yep, that was frightening

The flower image for this card came from our A Million Little Things stamp set which was stamped onto watercolor paper using Intense Black Ink.

After the ink had set a few minutes, I started shading the background and the image with Watercolor Pencils.  With watercolors, nothing is ever perfect. Remember how I said my emotions have been affecting my creative brain – well, this card reflects every bit of that.

I used shades of Linen, Peacock, and Mint for the background and shades of Peach for the flowers.  To add a little sparkle, I brushed the flowers with our Peach Shimmer Brush which is much darker than I anticipated it to be.  After creating the mosaic tile pattern, I added a sentiment stamped onto vellum and backed the design with Peacock cardstock.

Simple and easy to make and something to get my creative neurons firing again.

I hope this card inspired you and that you will consider joining us for another Color Dare challenge.  All you need to do is link your photo to the blog before June 11th.
