A Card with a Radiant Future for the Color Dare Challenge

I don’t know about you, but I have quite a few people on my list who will be graduating this year.  Even though they are not having an “official” ceremony, I have felt called to send out a card to each one to let them know how proud I am of their accomplishments.  Before I show you another graduation card I made, I want to encourage you to join this week’s Color Dare challenge

This tic-tac-toe board is full of school colors!  You could make a few graduation cards, using these colors, AND enter them into the challenge. To join the challenge, you only to need to use the colors show and post your creation to the Color Dare blog before May 14th.

On my creation I used Close, Ruby, & Green Apple with some Gold & Canary.  It’s a bit of a non-traditional graduation card, but I think the recipient will like it.

To create the design, I teamed two of our stamp sets – For the Graduate & Blossoming Friendship.  Since the flower was such a large image, I kept the pattern simple.  I used Intense Black ink to stamp both images, then shaded the flower using SpectrumNoir Tri-Blend Markers

At the base of the card, I added a small strip of Black Velvet Ribbon.  I felt like this grounded the image and added a touch of elegance to the card. I layered the images onto Ruby & Black cardstock, then added a few gems to embellish the design.

When designing this card, I did not plan for the torn corner. That occurred when I was attempting to adhere my white daisy to the ruby and tore it trying to re-aligned the cardstock.  I was NOT going to re-color a whole new image so I decided to tuck some designer paper in that corner instead.  I think it turned out better than I planned. 😉

I hope that today’s creation inspired you to make a few non-tradition graduation cards and share them with us at the Color My Heart Color Dare Blog.  Your creations you share DO NOT have to be graduation cards, but they do need to use only the color shown on the Tic-Tac-Toe board above.

Inspire others. Share this post:

  1. Great colouring of that flower. Love the way you made it look like it has dew on it or shine or something with the white and your blending is sublime.
