Create a Folded Chevron Border for Your Scrapbook Layout

Welcome to another Creative Design Team Video Colab!  This month, we are treating you to a variety of Fancy Fold designs you can make using your Close to My Heart products.  For my Fancy Fold project, I am showing you how to use the Yesterday & Today papers to make this Folded Chevron border. There is even a Cricut tutorial you can follow, showing you how to create this border in Design Space.

The base for this layout was created by splattering two pieces of French Vanilla cardstock with Almond Ink and Gold Shimmer in a spray pen. I used the same ink mixture to create some distressed butterflies.  After spraying the Art Philosophy cut butterflies, I carefully scrunched them up, then opened them up flat to dry.

Once I had adhered all the background paper strips down, I began creating the Chevron Border.  In my video I show you how to fold each piece by hand, but I found that creating the pieces in Design Space was more efficient, plus it gave me an excuse to play with my new Cricut Maker.

The Vintage Family layout came together quickly and was easy to embellish using the Yesterday & Today Stickers, Vellum Die Cuts, and Foil Die Cuts.  This is one of my favorite parts of creating a layout – adding all the layers of beautiful vintage designs.

Here is a little tip: Follow the “Rule of Threes” when you are adding your die cuts.

If you look at my layout above, you can see that the butterflies, vellum shapes, and stickers all form a triangle.  This allows the eye to flow through the layout and give it a balanced  design.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s project and that you were inspired to try this Fancy Fold Chevron Border.  After you have viewed my tutorial, make sure to continue through the rest of the Creative Design Team videos.
