Family Legacy Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

We are bringing all kinds of wonderful vintage products into your life today, with our Yesterday & Today papers and our beautiful Family Legacy stamp set.  Our New Catalog Idea Book is full of old world products you are going to love♥ this season, and I am eager to show you how I used them to create a page featuring my beautiful daughter. 

Isn’t she just stunning?  When I first saw this photo of her, I wanted to create a layout right away, but, at the time, we didn’t have any papers in our collection to make her stand out.  Can you image my excitement when I saw these Yesterday & Today papers for the first time last month? They are just fabulous!  

The process video for this layout wasn’t quite ready to share before this blog post was due. February and March are busy for us with Awana, and I fell a little behind in my craft room.  Today, I am just going to share a few techniques I used to create this layout.

When I saw our Family Legacy Stamp set, I knew that the bundle of roses would be a ideal complement to this design.  The image was stamped onto the background using White Daisy ink to create a soft, chalk-like look, then used again to create the Espresso embossed paper behind the photo. 

After cutting a few strips of paper from the Yesterday & Today pack, I decided that I wanted to add a few circle images to match the circles in her photo. I found a Rose sticker and a paper doily, but had a difficult time finding a third circle image I liked.  That is when I decided to create the outline using Gold Embellishing thread.  It added the third circle element I needed without overpowering the page. 

After layering the papers , Vellum Die cuts, and stickers I took a step back and felt like the page needed something in the upper right corner, so I cut a strip of paper and stamped one of the quotes from the Family Legacy stamp set. 

In all honesty, it turned out so much better than I had hoped.  I have always enjoyed creating a vintage, distressed look on my pages, and am happy to see that we have a line of new products to allow me to create even more old-world designs.
