This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of artwork created by some very talented consultants.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

Have you ever envisioned a crafty project in your head that turned out to be a complete disaster in reality? That is exactly what happened to me this week. Not only did I realize that I miss having my boys around with their engineering skills, I made something that was much bigger than I could handle. Unfortunately, my stubbornness got the best of me I was determined to finish this Valentine Hot Air Balloon.

Honestly, this is not an original idea. Many people have created these by hand or, like I did, in Cricut® Design Space (and they are completely insane). It took me a few hours to figure out the images I needed to use and only a few minutes to pick out which papers in the Oh My Heart collection I wanted to create with, but it was the assembly that took it’s toll.

Not only did I make it soooo much bigger than I envisioned, the engineering of the design was not something I thought through. (That’s where my boys would have stopped me.) All the parts an pieces went together easily.  That cute little Almond colored basket was fun to shade with stencils and decorate with a bow & Oh My Heart stickers.  I had a blast designing the Balloon, adding Red Shimmer Trim and making the Valentine motif with the adorable Glacier striped paper.

BUT when I came time to put it together….
I just about lost my christian witness. Oh, my goodness.

All I am going to say is that the photos are taken and the project is done for the blog hop. My dear sweet husband is planning on helping me figure out a way to get this thing to quit falling over before I post my video next week.  (He is amazing❣)

Now ‘Hop” on over to Melissa Robinson’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. These Oh My Heart products are only available while supplies last, so be sure to contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to order these adorable papers & stickers.

  1. In case your question was not completely rhetorical…yes. Your hot air balloon is lovely and I am happy you have some stubborn in you so we could see it. 🙂 Best wishes during the filming of your video.

  2. Yes…yes…I do take on projects that just about make me lose the Jesus in me. I’m glad you persevered through this one, though, because it’s darling. I hope you figure out how to make it stand up!

  3. Sweet Basket and Balloon. makes a great centerpiece or gift! I can relate and call those moments “come to Jesus moments” – when I’m needing to say, “Lord help me!” The wreath I was making had some of those moments.
