A Merry Christmas Tree Card

For the Color Dare & Double Trouble Challenges

This week, at the Color My Heart Color Dare blog, we are partnering with Double Trouble for a delightful black & white challenge. As a Design Team member, my creative muscles are often stretched with some of these challenges, and this week, I think I pulled something. misscarriescreations-merrychristmastreecardsm.jpg

For these challenges, we, at the Color Dare Blog, are asking you to use Black & White plus three additional colors and no other neutrals. If you would also like to join the Double Trouble Challenge, Thing One wants something striped (no plaid) somewhere in your project, Thing Two is asking you to join us at the Color Dare Challenge, and Thing Three (the twisted sister) is asking you to add three colors.

Can you see where I might have pulled a muscle here? Not only have I been in a creative rut lately, but I was tasked with quite the challenge from these two blogs.  What is a girl to do but start rummaging through her stamps and try to come up with something to fit the requirements and here is what I ended up with – A Merry Christmas Tree card using Black, White, Candy Apple, Peach, and Evergreen.

I started with a White heat embossed Tree image on Black Cardstock, then layered it atop some Peach cardstock. The 4¼” x 4¼” card base was also cut from Black Cardstock. I added some Striped Peach paper and some stripes of Candy Apple Cardstock stamped in Evergreen. To embellish the card, I chose a White Acrylic Heart, two Black Mini-Clothes Pins, a few Black Dots, and a Black & White Striped Bow.

Black ♥ White ♥ Stripes ♥ Three Colors

I was able to get it all into one creation just in time for the Design Team posting. What do you think? I hope that this card inspired you to create something new and that you join us for this challenge.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. You do really great for being in a creative rut! I love your card. The B& W so bold in the ring with your colors in the background looks really nice. You even worked in stripes!
