A Quick Christmas Card for a Sketch Challenge

Can you believe that there are only NINE weeks left until Christmas? Sketch 339As the holidays draw closer, I start to feel the days going by quickly and tend to not have enough hours to get everything ready for Christmas. Can you relate?  Each year, we sent out over 100 Christmas cards and, this time of year, I start to scour the internet for quick, simple card sketches like this one from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Any uncomplicated card design that can be replicated quickly is a winner in my book.

This week, I decided to join the sketch challenge and create a simple card using the Holly Jolly Border stickers and Build a Plaid stamp set.   As you can see, instead of adding a scallop, I chose to create a variety of layers at the base of the card. Even though the Build a Plaid stamp set is intended for creating plaid designs, I chose to use it as a fill-in for one of my layers. Once the base of card was complete, I stamped the “December 25th” image onto black cardstock with VersaMark™ Ink, heat embossed it in white, then layered it atop a Candy Apple stitched circle. I love the look of white embossing powder on black cardstock.

I added a stamped Holly embellishment, a sentiment, and a few Holly Jolly Dots to complete the card. This card was so simple to create and could be made using a array of border stickers, paper scraps, or stamped images.

I hope that this card has inspired you to create something new this year for Christmas and to join the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I will be posting more cards I created using the Holly Jolly border stickers this week. In fact, I have created an entire workshop using them and I can’t wait to share them with you.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
