Creating with Fall Colors for the Color Dare Blog

Many of you are starting to see the seasons change where you live and some of you are experiencing some glorious autumn colors. Our fall season has been a little slow coming this year, but that didn’t stop me from being inspired by this week’s Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge70304577_10214887455481910_8344393459171328000_n.jpg

Can you imagine being able to see such a sight out your window? As I peered upon this week’s inspiration photo, I was drawn towards the deep reds, yellows, and greens and chose to use them to create this week’s Sunflower Thank You card. MissCarriesCreations-SunflowerThankYouCard.jpg

I started with a background I created using a stencil cut from the Share the Seasons Thin Cut.  I used this same stencil on my Fall Coffee Card to create an inked background.  Today, I am using the it to create a rustic, muted, background with Texture Paste.

Just a quick reminder: You only have a few more days
to save 30% on the Share the Seasons Bundle.

After spraying the background with ink, I layered it atop Sangria Cardstock.  This new Sangria color is a beautiful fall shade. I have just started creating with it, and am already liking how well it goes with many of the colors in our collection.  I chose to also use Sangria to create my Sunflower image and stamp my sentiment.  The center of the flower was created with Saffron Ink that was heat embossed with VersaMark, Clear Embossing Powder, and a sprinkle of Copper Tinsel.

After assembling the card, I decided to add a few embellishments.  A decorative knot was created with Sangria Ribbon and some red dots were made by adding color to our White Dots with a Red Marker.

This card reminds me off all things I love about fall – simple, rustic, and full of color.  I hope it has inspired you to create something new and join us for this week’s Color My Heart Dare Color Challenge.  Don’t forge to link up your creation before October 10th.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. I love the way you’ve used texture paste. The flower is lovely on the edge too. Colouring the gems is clever too!

  2. Your card is beautiful…..and just love how you did the center of the sunflower…so realistic looking! Thanks for sharing your process!
