Making Back to School Treats

For the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge

This week, we are encouraging you to bring out the rulers, notebooks, and pencils as we go back to school for the Color My Heart Challenge. You are to use this photo as inspiration to create a back to school masterpiece. Don’t forget to link-up your project before September 13th.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where nothing goes quite right? Here is what happened. I was inspired by a Pinterest find and excitedly created my entire project around the “back to school” theme, completely forgetting to check the color palette. (ugg) I went back to the drawing board and finished creating this little Back to School Treat Bag. It is the perfect little gift to give anyone who deals with your kids everyday.

I didn’t mean for that to sound negative, but, those teachers, paras, aides, cooks, secretaries, nurses, and, occasionally, the principal, get the pleasure of seeing your little one’s “smiling” face each and every week day for the next nine months. THEY DESERVE A LITTLE GIFT just like this filled with chocolate and a coffee gift card.

The box was created in Design Space™, then cut from Emerald cardstock with my Cricut™. After assembling the box, I decorated it with some Gingham paper, a simple sentiment from our August stamp of the month, and an adorable little handmade Pinwheel. To keep with the color palette, I used a Red Alcohol Marker to recolor the Pink Heart and Sequins.

Isn’t this the sweetest? Please don’t take offense to anything I may have said about children. I have been on both sides of the fence – in the school system and as a mom with seven little ducks wailing behind her. Those who are willing to spend every week with your children deserve a little “pick-me-up” after having who knows what sneezed on them. By taking a few minutes to create something special, you just made their day.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. Love that treat bag and know when you’re following a theme you sometimes get distracted on following a color challenge; but you saved it with doing your goodie bag. Love how the bag opens up with a pocket to insert the goodies.

  2. Great gift idea for teachers. Its a lovely gift. follows the theme of the challenge if not the “right” blue ❤

  3. I don’t even know where to start about how much I love this treat box! The sentiment on the front says it all…”you’re amazing”.
