We have all seen it on the Edit Bar in Design Space™, but do you have any clue why it is there? The Position feature is one of the least used by most crafters, because most of us don’t know how to use it. ♥ Well, my friend, today I want to show you a few reasons why this is a feature you will want to take advantage of the next time you are in Design Space.™
What is the Position Tool?
Good question. The Position tool was designed to allow you to precisely place images in a specific spot on the Canvas. Originally, Cricut™ designed this feature to help you Align your images, but now that we have Align options, Position is forgotten about.
When using the Position feature, you will need to remember what the X and Y numbers represent. (Yes, we are flashing back to our high school math days.) The “X” represents the horizontal ↔ position of the image on your Canvas, while the “Y” represents the vertical ↕ location. I like to remind myself that the “Y” has a “Vertical” tail. Before you start having flashbacks of your teen years, let me show you a one of the ways I like to take advantage of this feature. ♥
Finding Those Lost Images
How many times have you inserted an image, and feel like you have lost your mind when you can’t find it on your Canvas? You can see it right there in the Layers Panel, but it is nowhere to be found. You can see here, I have inserted two images from the You Are Here Collection, but that Hiking Boot appears to be missing.
Now I am not quite sure why Design Space™ does this. I honestly think it is to test my sanity, but when I click on the Boot image on the right, it scrolls me all the way down to the bottom of my Canvas.
Now I could just try to drag the boot all the way back up, but I am all about working smarter not harder. It’s much faster to just type in the Position where I want the image to be and it moves there for me.
Using the Position feature to find my lost images is only ONE of the reasons♥ I use the Position feature in Design Space™.
