Creating a Card with Papers You Hate

Sooo maybe “hate” is a strong word, but I want to be honest with you today. How many times have you looked at a paper pack in the catalog and thought “EW – won’t use that!”?  Well, my friend, that is exactly how I felt when I first saw the papers in the Craft On paper pack.  I was not the biggest fan. The bright colors, raging patterns, and crafty concepts did not appeal to me – AT FIRST…. but now I am going to miss it.

Who knew that such a brilliant collection would be one of my go-to paper packs this summer?  Sadly, it is now going away along with the Lemon, Emerald, and Pansy ink colors that were some of my favorites. These bright summer flavors will be officially retired on August 31st.

Before they are all gone for good, I thought I would create one more project for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. (You will also find this card linked to the CardzTV & Through the Craft Room Door challenges.)  Here the sketch that I used as inspiration for my card.

I began with a piece of Raspberry Craft On paper for the background, then created a Torn Paper border on a piece of White Daisy cardstock that had been splattered with Black Shimmer.   I added a stamped sentiment in Black then layered the two strips of paper onto the card.

If you haven’t had a chance to snag our stamp of the month, you
better grab it for $5.00 before August 31st.

The Watermelon and Flower were created in Design Space™ and cut out with my Air2™.  I have always added Cricut™ cuts to my scrapbook pages, but, recently, I have begun to enjoy adding Cricut cut-outs to my cards.  (Here is the link to another card I made using a few images from our Cricut™ collections.)

I added a few Black & White Dots, and this simple card was complete. I just love how it turned out. So bright and cheery and full of summer.♥

UPDATE: I made the top three!! Can you believe it???

I hope that this card has inspired you to give the Craft On collection a second glance.  Make sure you hop over to my website and grab yourself a few of the last remaining packs before August 31st. After that, I can’t guarantee that you will be able to get a hold of one of the paper pack I now A-DORE♥.

♥ I can’t wait to see what you create!
