“Mix It Up” Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to the Mix It Up Technique Blog Hop where we will be featuring variousMissCarriesCreations-Mix It UpBH.jpg techniques using our Close to My Heart Paper Suites and Mix-In Paper Pack. If you have come here from Haley Dyer’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of ideas. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melissa’s Blog.

So, here I am riding in a car with running mascara, typing on my phone, just two hours away from this post going live. I completed the project before convention, but chose to wait to type up this post and came home to a laptop that has decided to retire early.  In spite of this, I was determined to show you how I used the Mix-in papers with an array of our other products to create this Summer Rain layout.

Where I live, we often get flash floods in the middle of a sunny day, and I wanted to reflect this weather through the use of the Grey Mix-in, playful Blue Into the Wild paper, and Yellow Gingham from Craft-on. On this layout, I wanted to invoke a feeling of playfulness and fun during a storm.

Not only did I use a mix of paper patterns, I chose to embrace white space. This is something my dear friend Katy suggested, and it was rather difficult for me to do. I found that adding some background stamping to the page, helped me to accept it a little better.

The goal of this hop was to show you how to use Mix-ins with other products in your paper crafting, so I chose to take this a step further by using leftovers from our Short Story By Stacy album to add details to my page. I hate having too many leftover pieces in my workroom, and these album kits come with A LOT. By adding the leftovers to my layout, I was able to use them up and add to the overall design.

I wish I had been able to show you the completed layout, but the lack of a working computer is preventing me from being able to do that this time. As soon as it is fixed, I’ll post it for you.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Maz Wood’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, the products I used are available, while supplies last, through August 31st. Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to order yours.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
