The Joys of the Fourth of July

Okay, okay, so that was a really bad play on words, but I have been ::waiting:: to play with our newest Share the Joy Die set, and, with the holiday right around the corner, I wanted to inspire you to make something patriotic.  Isn’t this fun? It reminds me of fireworks, parades, picnics, and summer afternoons at the baseball field. MissCarriesCreations-FourthofJulyFlag-JoyDie.jpg

You would not believe how quickly this card came together. I simply cut out the Into the Wild Wood-grain paper using our Share the Joy Thin Cut, then layered it onto some Arrow patterned paper that I had splattered with Red Shimmer. To give it the look of a “flag, I added a few Red Candy Apple stripes along the center of the circles.

After stamping the Sapphire Stars onto the Grid paper, I laid it below the four corner circles.  Here is a tip: Use your die as a template for stamping. Simply lay it over the paper and attach with Post-It tape, then stamp your images through the holes. This serves not only as a place holder, but it protects your paper from unwanted ink marks.

Before I continue, can I just tell you how much I LOVE that Star Patterned paper. I have used it for so many projects recently and, as you can see here, it worked perfectly for the corner off the flag. I used our Share the Joy Thin Cut to partially cut this paper, then trimmed it to size. MissCarriesCreations-FourthofJulyFlagDetail-JoyDie

The rest of the card involved a heat embossed vellum banner using sentiments from the Birthday Joy and Fourth of July stamp sets, some Sapphire Crochet Thread, and a Wooden Star. Layer it all on some Sapphire cardstock, and you are ready to celebrate!
