Make the Cut Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to the Make the Cut Technique Blog Hop where we will be showcasing various techniques that feature our Close to My Heart Thin Cuts metal dies or Cricut™ collections 57586945_10156355845792934_1056304398512160768_n.jpgIf you have come here from Tamara Sandwisch’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of ideas.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melissa’s Blog.

As a Cricut™ addict, I was thrilled to learn about this blog hop, but can you believe that I almost missed out? I have been having a few technology issues lately. (uggg😜) Thankfully, Melissa and Tamara have been so kind to let me jump into the hop last minute so that I could show you this adorable “Life is About Balance” sign I created using our Flower Market collection.MissCarriesCreations-LifeIsAboutBalanceSign

What do you think? I can’t wait to hang this up in my workroom.  I chose to use a variety of paper patterns from our current collection of paper suites along with some shades of matching cardstock to match my decor.  The complete list of supplies I used can be found at the very bottom of this post.

Each of these flowers were created using images from our Flower Market collection, and I am sure that you are wondering how I created each one. That, my friends, is a lesson for a future blog post. I didn’t feel like there would be enough room to post them all (and I don’t want to hog the hop.) Instead, I am going to show you a little trick that I use when I am creating signs in Design Space™.  It all begins with a little feature called “Templates”.

Often the Template feature gets ignored in Design Space™, but I find it extremely useful when I am creating a project to fit a store-bought sign. I choose the Basic Canvas Template, then customize the shape, size, and color of the sign I am making.

The Template will not cut out nor will it save with your project. It is simply there for you to design your project on, and, since you created the template to be the size of your sign, you can be assured that the project you are making in Design Space will fit.

NOTE: Since the template does not save with your project, I find it best to make a note somewhere on my project of the template I used and the size for future reference.

Did you know that the Template feature could come in so handy? You no longer have to create a “shape” that you hide or delete later, you just have to make a simple template to start creating signs of your own using your Flower Market images in Design Space™.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Melissa Robinson’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, our Flower Market Cricut™ collection, as well as many others, are available for purchase online. Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit the Cricut™ Collections tab of my website to order yours.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
