It’s All Sunshine & Roses ~ A Color My Heart Color Dare Card

Sometimes we all need a little “pick-me-up” and, after the week I have had, I needed to be able to retreat to my workspace and create something that would bring me a little sunshine.  I was inspired by the bright color choices in this week’s Color My Heart Dare Challenge, and I hope that they inspire you to create something that brings you joy. MissCarriesCreations-CD340.jpg

This color palette is one of my favorites and you will know this the minute you walk into my workspace. You can only imagine my excitement when our Design Team was shown this challenge. Unfortunately, I was not able to create what I had originally planned. Life took over and family came first, so I put aside some of my planning and ended up with a card that helped bring me a little happiness.

Doesn’t this simple card just make you smile? It’s all Sunshine & Roses which is something I needed this week.  I love the simplicity of the design and how easily it all came together. I began by using up some scraps from my Zoe paper packet (love those dots) and matched it with a lagoon cardstock background. Since my time was limited, I decided that I would pull a sentiment sticker from the So Much Happy complements to fit the colors of the card. This is something I often do when I am in a rush and need a quick sentiment.

I have been dying to use our Watercolor Die Cuts. These are floral images printed on watercolor paper designed for you to use with any color palette you are working with. Since my color palette already consisted of Sorbet and Lagoon, I decided to throw in a little Candy Apple for contrast on my roses.

When it came time to assemble it all together, I wanted to make sure that the Roses stood out and that you could still see that adorable dotted Zoe paper, so I chose to use Vellum with a Stitched Rectangle Frame. What do you think of this look?

I hope that this week’s Sunshine & Roses card has inspired you to join us at the Color My Heart Dare challenge.  Our Design Team always looks forward to your projects and is often inspired by YOU, and what you make.

Don’t forget, all of the supplies that I used on this card will be GONE after April 30th. Make sure to visit my website and grab some that cute Zoe paper, Watercolor Die Cuts, and the So Much Happy Complements before they are gone.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. Just love how you utilized the vellum….perfect for muting the bold background so your flower bouquet could be a focal point. You do beautiful creations! And thanks for notifying of the blog hops….viewing is my ‘happy’ time!

  2. I love how you used the vellum behind in that frame to really give the flowers a beautiful nest to sit in. Lovely. That stitching looks amazing too. Did you do that by hand?

  3. I love your blog. Thank you for sharing it. I am house bound awaiting a liver transplant. Making cards and scrapbooking are my happy place.
