Welcome to the Highlight the Details Technique Blog Hop where we will be Highlight the Details Blog hop.jpgfeaturing a various techniques that highlight the details of Close to My Heart products.   If you have come here from Darlys Reckerr’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog. This blog hop is simple, fun, and full of ideas.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melissa’s Blog.

For this week’s Blog Hop I decided that I would feature our Love So Sweet stamp set and show you how I used a masking technique to “highlight” those delightful butterflies. This double easel card was a simple one to make, but in it’s simplicity it truly calls attention to those stamped images. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardSMBefore I begin to explain my Masking Technique, let me first list the measurements for the card. You will find the complete list of supplies I used on this project at the very bottom of this post.

Now that you have the pieces for the card, let me show you how I created the background.  I began by stamping the Butterfly image with Intense Black Ink onto the 5¼” x 4″ White Daisy cardstock.  Our Intense Black Ink is the best to use for Watercolors and Alcohol Markers because it is waterproof, non-smearing, fast-drying AND acid-free

After stamping the images, I stamped a single Butterfly onto a stack of five Full-Adhesive Sticky Notes then cut out the stack to create five masks. These masks were placed onto each of the stamped images on my cardstock. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardButterfliesMaskedI then used Fern Ink to stamp the Leaf images randomly onto the cardstock overlapping the butterflies and making sure that some went off the edge. Before removing the masks, I stamped a few Sugarplum flowers between the leaves and “behind” the butterflies. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardLeavesStampedAfter removing the masks and painting the butterflies, the rest of the card was simple. I added the remaining paper layers, stamped the sentiment using our Wordfetti stamp set, and added some Sugarplum Flowers and another Sapphire butterfly.

To “highlight” the flowers, I added a few strokes from the Sugarplum Shimmer Brush to the centers. I feel that this added some dimension to the images. This card was so simple to make that I decided to create a short “How To” video for my Create with Miss. Carrie’s Creations VIP Facebook Group. I will be posting it later this week for each of you to view. MissCarriesCreations-LittleThingsCardHeader.jpgNow ‘Hop” on over to Terry Metzger’s blog to see her work! 1. This card is soooooooooo gorgeous! I seriously want to see the video! The coloring of the butterflies is so beautiful and dimensional. Thank you for the dimensions, because I’m going to attempt to recreate your card.
