Close to My Heart has created quite a few collections of metal dies, called Thin Cuts, that can be used for a variety of paper crafting projects. For this week’s blog hop, I am going to show you how I used some of our current Thin Cuts dies to create this adorable ” I am Blessed” card from the I Heart Us paper collection.
Many of you have expressed your fear of using this multicolored rainbow pattern from the I Heart Us paper packet. It can feel a bit overwhelming, so, as I explain my use of Thin Cuts today, I am also going to show you how I “tamed” this list of colors. I began with the base and quieted the pattern by adding a layer of Opaque Texture Paste then attached White Daisy Stitched Rectangle Frame with Thin Foam Tape. By doing this, I have ♥muted the colors and kept the focus♥ on the sentiment.
The “I am Blessed” statement was cut from the I Heart Us Cut-Apart paper using a stitched Oval, then layered it atop a Bluebird Oval Thin Cut. ♥Why an oval, you ask?♥ My stripes are going horizontally and that horizontal oval not compete with the stripes.
I have narrowed down my color choices from the rainbow pattern by choosing to match the Bluebird and Pink from the sentiment. This prevents me from competing with the multiple colors available in the pattern. After adding some complementing images from the I Heart Us Cut-Apart paper, I decided to add a sweet blue Butterfly Friendship image that was cut from ♥matching Thin Cuts♥. (love these)
By choosing to mute the colors, complement the stripes in the pattern, and choosing only a few colors from the palette, ♥you can also quiet this brilliant paper pattern♥ and use it to make some delightful projects.
Now ‘Hop” on over to ♥Katy Taylor’s blog♥ to see her fabulous artwork! She never disappoints. Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, all our Thin Cuts metal dies are only available while supplies last. Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to see all of the dies we have available for you to use.
♥I can’t wait to see what you create!
Gorgeous card! Thank your all of the detail about how you created it. Before reading I was thinking you used vellum.
Isn’t it fun? I love how that texture paste looks on our papers.
That is a gorgeous effect with the texture paste!
Thank you, Emily. I like how it helps to soften the colors.
I love the paste on the rainbow stripes, all the elements work so well together. Great card.
Thank you, Michelle. I had fun making it.
You are always so good about explaining the details of your creation….just a super card!
I just hope it helps and hope that I don’t ramble too much. 😅
Beautiful card! I thought you used vellum, too. Great way to soften the bold colors.
Thank you, Michelle. I like applying the paste thin to allow the pattern to show through.
Beautiful card! I love that you used texture paste to soften the background.
Thanks. I think the paste really helped. I hope it inspires you to try it.
Beautiful!
