I am one who enjoys layering all sorts of images, textures, embellishments, and papers on both my cards and my own personal layouts. For this week’s blog hop, I have created a layout that takes advantage of these ♥beautifully stamped images♥ and plan to show you how to use Complements and Thin Cuts as additional layers on your projects.
There is an art to layering multiple pieces and a balance that needs to be achieved or your project will look cluttered. Whenever I begin layering, I always make sure I have a ♥Visual Triangle♥ to help me achieve that balance. Let’s take a look at a few elements on my layout and you will begin to understand what I mean.
On these pages, I used the Love Blossoms stamp set to create three sets of stamped flowers for the layout. These are each shaded in the same manner and placed in a Visual Triangle onto the layout. To add an additional layer to the images, I stamped some extra flowers, cut them out, and popped them off the page using 3D Foam Tape.
Along side each of these flowers are some complements from the Feels Like Home collection. Each sapphire embellishment was put into place to form another triangle with the Mix-In paper border at the base of the page. If you take a closer look, you will notice that the hearts form yet another triangle with the heart shaped cactus.♥
As I was adding the final layers to this layout I wanted a way to focus on the story. Since part of the tale revolved around the roses, I layered some Rectangle Frames onto the page to draw your eye to the places where I wanted you to focus. Do you see another triangle formed with these white elements?
Side Note: My story was typed onto vellum which was layered atop an embossed piece of Peach cardstock that was inked before embossing. I always like adding an element of texture to my projects.
I finished off the layout by adding some Silver Thread and Gems to reflect our celebrating ♥25 years♥ together. I hope that this layout has inspired you to try something new and attempt some new layering techniques.

Love how your butterfly just peeks out from behind the flowers & the colour combination of the layout is so pretty.
Thank you! I wanted to try to match a little bit to the flowers, the butterflies we saw, and to us without it being overwhelming. . ♥☕ Miss. Carrie
You nailed it! The placement of your photos is right on and every single element that you added just enhanced the over all look of the layout. Wow!!
