He Makes Things New ~ Color Dare Tic-Tac-Toe

As I look out my window at the quiet iciness of winter, I was inspired to create this bright card for the Color My Heart Dare challenge. I know that, in a few months, once again, things will be made new and the bold colors of spring would be right outside my door.  Isn’t it just incredible how God makes all things new again?!

For this Color My Heart Dare challenge, we have a fun Tic-Tac-Toe board inspired by our I Heart Us Collection. You can select Row, Column or Diagonal palette of colors to create with and add additional colors from the board if you wish. I chose to use Pixie, Bluebird, and Lagoon with a touch of Mint, Raspberry, and Black.

I will be recreating this card in a live video later this month, so, instead of telling you how I made it, I am going to give you a tip for using our Fancy Tags Thin Cuts.  When these Thin Cuts first arrived last April, I cut out one of each image from some scrap cardstock. These cut-outs are in a bag which hangs above my desk and can be pulled out anytime to lay atop a project.

As you can see here, I tried a few different tags on my card to see which look I preferred. This saves me quite a few steps (and supplies) when I am designing. I am able to play with the different Thin Cut images and see what each one will look like on my project before cutting them out of my paper.

I did finally decide on a tag that I liked and used our Hostess Exclusive Bible Verses stamp set for the sentiment. (Did you know that you can get this FREE♥ in February?)

I hope you have been inspired by this project and that that you join this Color My Heart Dare challenge. You don’t have to have a blog to join. You simply create a project using the colors shown and link to your blog or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest, SplitCoast Stampers, Instagram).  How easy is that?!

♥ I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. Your card is beautiful and great layout. Thanks for sharing your tag technique…I do a lot of this at the time I’m making a card and I’ll use white cards stock for the die cut, place on card if I decide it’s what I want, and then cut another piece in the color or design paper I want to use and the white is my layer. It helps me a lot in the design of my cards. Hope you had a fun filled day on your Birthday…Happy Belated Birthday..if your like most it’s a week of celebration with family.

  2. Beautiful card! I really love the bold bright stripes but I have to admit when I go to play with them they intimidate me, LOL but I love the way it looks when I see others use it. I love your tag technique and plan to go cut a set right now!

    1. It was intimidating to me at first also, but once I started to use it I really enjoyed it. I chose just a few colors from the stripes to use on each project so that it “matches” but isn’t overpowering.

  3. Being in Australia I can’t relate to icy whiteness but I LOVE your colourful card. I love the layout and the perfect combo of colours to shape and decorative tag shape and complements. Its just perfect.
