Quilted Thank You Card ~ Color Dare Tic-Tac-Toe

Growing up, I vaguely remember my grandmother’s sewing closet filled with random patterns of fabric she had cut from worn clothing or bedding with the intention to create quilts for her family.  Rarely did she throw anything out – if a torn curtain still had a usable piece, it could be added to a quilt.  While creating this card, I was reminded of those random bits fabrics who patterns played well together in her handmade cozy quilts.

This week, I am returning to to the Color Dare Design Team to create a project using colors from our retired Oh! What Fun Collection.  Using this Tic-Tac-Toe Board as inspiration, I chose to use up a few paper scraps to create a whimsical quilt pattern using Pomegranate, Clover, and Lagoon with a few hints of Raspberry and Clover. I hope you are also inspired to create something for this Color My Heart Dare challenge.

My”quilt” was created using our New Stitched Quilt Shape Thin Cuts dies and some papers from the retired Oh! What Fun collection. Paper quilts are a great way to use up those paper scraps you have laying around, especially those PML card sheets. There are some great patterns to be found in each of those.

As you can tell, I am not the seamstress my grandmother was. This is the first time I have attempted to use my sewing machine, and after an hour of frustrating grumbles, I decided that this stitching was as good as it was going to get. If you have any tips for sewing paper with the WeR Sew Happy machine, please let me know. 😜

I hope that you are inspired to create something for this Color My Heart Dare challenge.  I always love seeing what each of you create and enjoy visiting your blogs for more ideas. In fact, there are a few of your blogs that I have added to my list below so that others can also enjoy your creations.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. Love, love, love your quilted card. The paper combinations are beautiful. I really need to find time to use those new dies. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I LOVE the quilted card. I am definitely going to have to get this set of Thin Cuts and stamps because my mum is a quilter and has lots of quilting friends.
