Graduation Money Holder (Part One)
This time of year, we receive quite a few graduation invitations and I am always trying to find a simple, yet, stylish way to congratulate the kids for all their hard work. If you are like me, you can’t just go purchase a card from the store, you need to make something fun and unique. This year, I found a pattern to create this money envelope which I replicated in Cricut Design Space™ so that I could make multiples without too much work. (All I have to do is change the cardstock color.) This week, I have created a Design Space™ tutorial for you and included the list of supplies used at the very bottom of this post.
Design Space Instructions:
1. Insert a SQUARE SHAPE, resize to 7.25″w x 7″h, then POSITION shape at x=0 and y=0.
2. Insert a SCORE LINE and resize it to 7″h. POSITION the Score Line at x=2 and y=0.
3. DUPLICATE the Score Line and POSITION it at x=5.25 and y=0. (DO NOT ATTACH)
4. Insert a SQUARE SHAPE and resize to 2.75″w x 7″h. DUPLICATE the Rectangle and resize to 2.25″w x 7″h. SELECT all three Rectangle shapes and choose ALIGN CENTER.
5. Insert a CIRCLE SHAPE and resize to 2.5″w x 1.5″h. DUPLICATE the shape two times (three ovals) then place one Oval at the base of the rectangle, centering it to create the cut-out on the envelope.
6. Select the smallest rectangle and the oval then choose SLICE. DELETE the unwanted images. Repeat with the remaining Ovals and Rectangles. (Some images will “move to front” when you slice. Just “move to back” as needed.)
7. Select the Largest Rectangle and the two Score Lines and choose ATTACH.
8. Add Star Shapes if desired and change the colors to the desired colors.
Once the images are cut out, you can use the Color Your Life stamp set to add the “Celebrate” sentiment. Place adhesive ¼” along the side of the Base Cardstock, fold in the sides and adhere them to form a pocket. Adhere the remaining layers and stars, using Thin 3D Foam Dots as needed for dimension.
You have now created the basic envelope for the Graduation Money Holder. Next week, I will continue with project to show you how to create the money insert. While you wait, you can cut out and assemble all of the envelopes you need for your hard working graduates. I can’t wait to see what you create with this tutorial!
