Sparkly Scrap Card

Each quarter, a new Seasonal Expressions catalog arrives and I purchase packs of papers for my workshops and personal projects.  This can amount to a plethora of paper.  I made it a personal goal this year to use up ALL of my paper supplies each quarter BEFORE another idea book arrives. If you are like me, you have lots of random scraps that need using so, this week, I used up some of my Make Waves scraps to create this Sparkly Scrap card for the Color My Heart Color Dare and Heart 2 Heart weekly challenges. As always, a list of supplies I used on this project can be found at the very bottom of this post.

SparklyScrapCard

This card uses up random scraps of paper from the Make Waves Paper Packet.  I used ½” strips of leftover paper and PML cards to create the background, a 12″ strip to create the Rosette, and matching cardstock pieces to finish the card.  You can use any paper strips or zip-strips in your paper stash to create a card like this.  I suggest sticking to 3-4 colors and creating a “visual triangle” with the colors you chose.  This prevents the card from looking jumbled and allows your eye to flow across the images.  As you can see, I used only Pixie, Emerald, and Pansy, then placed them so that each strip along with the rosette and large butterfly created “visual triangles”.

To make the card “extra sparkly”, I painted to butterflies with our Clear Shimmer Brush.  These cards went together quickly and I now have less paper to use up before the end of the quarter. 🙂 I would love to see how you use up your paper stash of scraps.  Feel free to post your projects on my Facebook Page for everyone to see.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

  1. So pretty…loving all the bling! Thank you for inspiring us at Heart 2 Heart Challenges!

  2. Beautiful card and it doesn’t look at all like you were just using up scraps! I need to adopt your “use my stash” goal too! Thanks for sharing at Heart 2 Heart!

    1. It’s a hard thing not to hoard, but I can’t take it with me when I die and my boys have no idea what it’s all about. Can you imagine the trailer on it’s way to the dump?…Oh! The tragedy! …the horror. 😅😉

  3. Stunning, the colours are so vibrant and bold and beautiful! Thanks for playing along with Heart 2 Heart Challenges (H2H).

  4. A great way to shop your stash! I haven’t seen a rosette in ages but it’s the perfect accent on your fabulous card. I may have to use a rosette on my next card…
